Ok here I go again. I had written a post on google reader and I am not sure where it posted but here goes. I love computers and I love education now if we can get the two to work together that would be great. When students can use computers to communicate and learn from other students anywhere in the world the only good can come from it. Students of today are technology dependent. Unlike other generations that are not dependent on it. Students of today have always had technology of some kind and are not afraid to learn and use the newest technology out there. When we use different types of technology to let students meet and learn from others it can only help make the world a better place. They can learn about other cultures and how to relate to them and this can only help everybody. When we learn how to deal with others we learn how to make the world a better place.

  1. I would love to meet up with groups from other states and countries and blogging would definitely provide that opportunity. I teach at the high school level and I know that many of my students have not been out of the city they live in. Blogging to other people in the world would allow them the experience of being other places in the world without ever leaving home. I just need to figure out where to start.

  2. I like the thought about blogging to people in different areas other than the student's home territory. Currently, my son is writing to a pen pal in Canada. He is in 3rd grade and is very excited to get a letter from someone in another part of his little world. I think that blogging would take the idea of pen pals to a whole new level.

  3. I teach in a high school in which many of our students don't have successful role models to show them the possibilities that are open to them by education. They often have unrealistic goals. Students sit in class and do absolutely no work or cut class and still believe they will go to college and have a great, high paying job someday. Blogging with peers and also adults who perhaps take on a mentoring role could help these, typically very bright, students see the need for applying themselves in school.

  4. Brenda I think that is a great idea. I also teach high school students in similar situations. Incorporating adults from the business world may be very helpful in showing students what businesses require and look for in employees or what colleges are looking for in their future students.
